Exploring Effective Parenting of Teens from an Attachment Perspective

This workshop is designed for therapists who are seeing parents with teens and young adults in their practice. Participants will gain insight into the process of attuned parenting, and learn skills that are applicable to their clients.

How we connect with others in personal relationships is, in large part, determined by our early attachment experiences with our own parents. The session will include a review of attachment styles as defined by Dr. Daniel Siegel in his book Parenting from the Inside Out. Workshop participants will be guided through a series of experiential exercises designed to help them understand attachment styles and and how those affect current relationships.

Topics will include:
How we attach
How we connect
How we communicate
Practicing mindful parenting
Building more effective communication skills
