Facilitator: Ben Jones, LMFT

St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 451 Moraga Way, Orinda

Time:  Wednesday, April 2, 10:00 to 12:00.
Where:  St Marks Lutheran Church, 451 Moraga Road, Orinda, CA.
Refreshments will be served, including tea and coffee, pastries, and bagels.

What is it?  This is a group for anyone working on their 3000 hours, preparing for the tests, getting licensed, etc.  Anyone else who is interested in these issues is welcome.

There are some things that I would like to make clear about this meeting.

First:  This is FREE to all interns and trainees.  Interns have told us that they face enough fees and charges and cannot always handle additional expenses.

Second:  All are welcome.  You don't have to be a member of CAMFT or EBCAMFT to join.  CAMFT fees are another thing that prelicensed MFT's may not be able to afford.

Third:  You can still attend even if you are already licensed.  This is intended to also be a place for LMFT's to come and share their own experiences, answer questions, provide encouragement and support, etc.

Fourth:  This organizational meeting is in Central Contra Costa, but additional clubs can be formed in other places wherever there is enough interest. If it is too far for you to travel, let us know and we will consider trying to organize a group in your area.

Possible concerns to be discussed:

The Road to Licensure:  What to expect, or, "I wish someone had told me this before I enrolled in my MA Program!"

Consultation on earning hours, losing hours, calculating hours, submitting hours.

Sharing job opportunities and networking where it really counts.

Financial sanity checks: Do I have the financial resources to to make it to licensure?

Jobs, resumes, interviews, practicums, internships.

Studying for the exam, training companies.

Dealing with Supervisors:  What makes a good supervisor?  What makes a bad supervisor?

Being paid in your internship:  Minimum wage, percentage of fees, volunteering, etc.

Self-care:  Maintaining your own sanity, or, "Can I catch depression from my clients?"

Intro to CAMFT, EBCAMFT, theEetree, legal advice, etc.

So please come and let us know your concerns, and have refreshments with us.

Thanks,

Ben Jones, LMFT, EBCAMFT Board Member at Large.
