"Staying on the Good Side of the BBS"

David Jensen, J.D., will stress the importance of staying on the good side of the BBS. He will give attendees an overview of the licensing board process and educate licensees and associates about the statutory powers that the BBS has. This workshop meets the criteria to satisfy the BBS continuing requirements for 6 hours of law & ethics training.

Presenter Bio:  Now in private practice, Dave Jensen was a Staff Attorney with CAMFT from 2002-2019.  He was born in Flint, Michigan, (Go Tigers!), but was raised in Tustin, California.  Dave graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s Degree in History, and he received his law degree from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California.  Thereafter, Dave passed the California bar examination in February, 1999, and he did it on his first try!  In 2016, Dave was awarded a Master of Liberal Studies degree (English concentration) from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas.  As an attorney with CAMFT, Dave consulted with its members regarding their legal and ethical dilemmas and obligations and was a regular contributor to The Therapist magazine.  

Learning Objectives:  

After the workshop, attendees will be able to:

1. Describe the complaint mechanism process for the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

2. Discuss the twenty-five ways that licensees and associates can get into trouble with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

3. Explain the differences between a Citation and an Accusation/Statement of Issues.

4. Identify the "things" licensees and associates can do to stay on the good side of the BBS
