Course Description:

This workshop will identify among the common personality disorders that present in therapy for efficient diagnosis and direction for therapy.  Major characteristics of the personality disorders will be noted, including how they present particular challenges to growth and change… and of therapy.  Relationships to other theories- particularly attachment will be addressed.  A simple but effective and efficient 2x2 diagnosis axis among major presenting personality disorders will be presented: borderline personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorder paranoid personality disorder, and anti-social personality disorder. Also included will be mnemonics for the major personalities disorders for diagnosis and therapeutic direction. 

Educational Goals:  

  1. Participants will be able to identify a mnemonic of major issues for a borderline personality disorder.
  2. Participants will be able to name a mnemonic of primary characteristics of a narcissistic personality disorder.
  3. Participants will be able to identify a two by two axis to distinguish among borderline personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorder paranoid personality disorder, and anti-social personality disorder.

CEU's:

Course meets the qualifications for 3 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

East Bay Chapter of CAMFT is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (Provider #52488) to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs.  East Bay Chapter of CAMFT maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.

About the Speaker:

Ronald Mah, M.A., Ph.D., L.M.F.T. provides psychotherapy in California.  Extensive background in education, multi-cultural, & social services; author books on discipline & behavior, therapy according to logical emotional, cognitive, social, spiritual, familial, & cultural roots that led to current behavior for youth, adults, couples, and families. Co-Director of the MFT Masters Program at the Western Institute for Social Research, Berkeley. Service on Board of Directors of the California Kindergarten Association and  of the California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists.

**IMPORTANT REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY**  You may cancel for a 50% refund between 5 and 15 days in advance of the event. No refunds for cancellations within 5 days of the event or for no-shows or failure to attend due to emergencies.  Unused funds cannot be applied to future events. NO EXCEPTIONS!  If the event is cancelled for any reason, you will receive a full refund.
